Submission to the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD)
The Ontario College of Trades (College) works closely with the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development to implement and administer the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA). Under OCTAA, both the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council have the authority to make regulations pertaining to various matters outlined in the legislation.
On October 19, 2012, the Ministry posted proposed Minister’s and Lieutenant Governor-in-Council (LGIC) regulations to the Ontario Regulatory Registry for a 45-day public comment period. As the regulator of the trades in Ontario and as an industry-driven body, the College’s Board of Governors submitted comments to the Ministry in response to several of these regulations. We encourage stakeholders to read the submission to understand the College’s position on these matters.
