Nov. 13, 2014 – Mehrdad Tavakkoli

Defendant: Mehrdad Tavakkoli, 30, of Richmond Hill.

Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 2 – individual engaging in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On Sept. 10, 2014, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an interview with Tavakkoli of Ace Heating and Cooling in which he admitted that he installed an air conditioning unit in a Hamilton Residence. Tavakkoli was confirmed to be performing work of a refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic (313A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

Nov. 13, 2014, Tavakkoli pleaded guilty to the charges under sec. 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
