Nov. 14, 2014 – Daniel Boissonneault

Defendant: Daniel Boissonneault, 47, of Sturgeon Falls.

Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 2 – individual engaging in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification and sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On Aug. 20, 2014, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at Advance Heating and Plumbing, located in Sturgeon Falls. Two individuals were confirmed to be performing work of an electrician – construction and maintenance (309A) and refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic (313A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

On Nov. 14, 2014, Boissonneault pleaded guilty to the charges under sec. 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
