Defendant: Carmtech Electric Ltd., Woodbridge.

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On April 16, 2014 Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at a site located in Niagara-On-the-Lake. One individual was confirmed to be performing work of an electrician – construction and maintenance (309A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

On Sept. 26, 2014, Carmtech Electric Ltd., pleaded guilty to the charges under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
