Defendant:  Wayne McLEOD

Charges: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for offences under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 2 – individual engaging in compulsory trade – without Certificate of Qualification that is not suspended (two counts).

Summary: On May 30, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at WDM Auto & Cycle, located at 345 Raglan Street, Collingwood ON. The inspectors determined that Wayne McLeod was performing compulsory trade work on motorcycles while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of motorcycle technician (310G) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On September 18, 2017 Wayne McLeod was convicted of the charges in a Barrie court and was ordered to pay a fine of $2,300 plus a $575 victim fine surcharge. In addition, the court issued a one-year probation order for Mr. McLeod.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
