Dec. 3, 2015 – Qais Popal

Defendant: Qais Popal, 41, of Gloucester.

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: June 24, 2015, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at Fred’s Auto Repair, located in Ottawa. Popal was confirmed to be performing work of an automotive service technician (310S) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

On Dec. 3, 2015, Popal pleaded guilty to the charge under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.
