Defendant: Capitol Enterprise Corp., Mississauga.

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On July 31, 2014 Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at a construction site located in Brampton. Two individuals were confirmed to be performing work of an electrician- construction and maintenance (309A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being members of the College.

On Oct. 8, 2014, Capitol Enterprise Corp., failed to appear and was convicted in absentia under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
