November 14, 2017 – 2464384 Ontario Inc. o/a Furnace & AC Experts

Charges: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On May 4, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a residence located in Toronto, ON. The inspectors determined that one individual employed by 2464384 Ontario Inc. o/a Furnace & AC Experts installed a ductless air conditioning unit inside the dwelling while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic (313A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On November 14, 2017, 2464384 Ontario Inc. o/a Furnace & AC Experts was convicted of the charge in a Burlington court and was ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 plus a $375 victim fine surcharge. In addition, the court issued a one-year probation order for 2464384 Ontario Inc. o/a Furnace & AC Experts.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
