Nov. 12, 2014 – Abbas Cheaib

Defendant: Abbas Cheaib, 31, of Whitby.

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On July 24, 2014, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at Boss Auto Service, located in Oshawa. Cheaib was found performing work of an automotive service technician (310S) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

Nov. 12, 2014, Cheaib pleaded guilty to the charges under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
