Defendant: MDG Newmarket Inc. o/a Ontario Energy Group, Mississauga

Charge: Part III Summons for violation under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On Oct. 24, 2014, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officer conducted an interview with the complainant after receiving a complaint from an Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) inspector that an unauthorized individual installed an air conditioning unit in a residence located in Hamilton. One individual was confirmed to be performing work of a residential air conditioning systems mechanic (313D) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.

On Dec. 19, 2014, enforcement officers served a Part III Summons MDG Newmarket Inc. for violation under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, section 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

On June 17, 2015, the defendant pled guilty to the charge.
