July 26, 2017 – Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership

Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On February 14, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a construction site for a new residential dwelling located at 169 Alta Road, Blue Mountains, ON.

The inspectors determined that an employee employed or otherwise engaged by Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership was installing and connecting eight-inch duct work in the basement of the dwelling while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of sheet metal worker (308A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On July 26, 2017, Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership was convicted of the charge in a Barrie court and ordered to pay a fine of $3,000 plus a $750 victim fine surcharge.
