July 25, 2017 – Ontario Corporation 2053327 o/a MMC Automotive & Tire Inc.

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act notice for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On April 24, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at Ontario Corporation 2053327 o/a MMC Automotive & Tire Inc. located at 1151 Eglinton Avenue East, Mississauga ON. The inspectors determined that one individual employed by Ontario Corporation 2053327 o/a MMC Automotive & Tire Inc. was working on the brakes of a motor vehicle while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of automotive service technician (310S) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On July 25, 2017 Ontario Corporation 2053327 o/a MMC Automotive & Tire Inc. was convicted of the charge in a Mississauga Court and ordered to pay a fine of $175 plus a $35 victim fine surcharge.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
