July 23, 2018 – Ervis GJURKAJ

Charges: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for offences under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA),, sec. 86 (7) – obstruction of an inspector in the course of his duties.

Summary: On March 15, 2018, as a result of a public complaint, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted a compliance inspection regarding plumbing work performed on a construction project located at 1830 Huron Church Road in Windsor, ON.

On March 15, 2018, a College inspector visited the site and requested information from Ervis Gjurkaj about the plumbing work in order to determine OCTAA compliance by Mr. Gjurkaj and by a related business entity. Mr. Gjurkaj provided false information to the inspector and failed to provide additional or correct information despite repeated follow ups. Ervis Gjurkaj was subsequently charged with obstruction of the inspector in the course of his duties.

On July 23, 2018, Ervis Gjurkaj was convicted of the charge in a Windsor court and ordered to pay a fine of $4,000 plus a $1,000 victim fine surcharge.
