January 3, 2018 – Jargis WARDA

Charges: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for offences under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification (2 counts).

Summary: On April 10, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at the East Rail Maintenance Facility, located at 609 Victoria Street East, Whitby, ON. The inspectors determined that on April 10, 2017, two (2) individuals employed or engaged by Jargis Warda were assembling and installing sheet metal work while they did not hold Certificates of Qualification or Statements of Membership in the compulsory trade of sheet metal worker (308A) that are not suspended, and while they were not apprentices in the trade working pursuant to registered training agreements that are not suspended.

On January 3, 2018, Jargis Warda admitted to facts underlying all the charges, was convicted of one count in a Whitby court and was ordered to pay a fine of $1,700 plus a $425 victim fine surcharge. In addition, the court issued a nine-month probation order for Jargis Warda.


The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
