Feb. 11, 2016 – MDG Newmarket Inc. o/a Ontario Energy Group (OEG)

Defendant: MDG Newmarket Inc. o/a Ontario Energy Group (OEG) – Mississauga

Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification (x3).

Summary: On Jun. 15, 2015, Ontario College of enforcement officers conducted an inspection at a construction site located in Peterborough, after receiving a complaint that there were individuals performing compulsory work at this site. Three individuals were confirmed to be performing work of a refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic (313A) & sheet metal worker (308A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being members of the College.

On Feb. 11, 2016, MDG Newmarket Inc. o/a Ontario Energy Group (OEG) pleaded guilty to two counts under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009; third count was withdrawn.
