Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 2 – individual engaging in compulsory trade – without Certificate of Qualification that is not suspended.

Summary: On September 14, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at Pacific & Vine Garage Ltd., located at 540 Oster Lane, Concord, ON. The inspectors determined that Salvatore Siggia repaired a motor vehicle by replacing the transmission while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of automotive service technician (310S) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On December 15, 2017, Salvatore Siggia was convicted of the charge in a Newmarket court and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 plus a $125 victim fine surcharge.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
