December 15, 2017 – 2346154 Ontario Inc. o/a Stonewater Construction Group

Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.

Summary: On July 5, 2017, as a result of a public complaint, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a residence located in Keswick, ON. The inspectors determined that one individual employed or otherwise engaged by 2346154 Ontario Inc. o/a Stonewater Construction Group ran conduit and cable wiring to a pool shed while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of electrician-domestic and rural (309C) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On December 15, 2017, 2346154 Ontario Inc. o/a Stonewater Construction Group was convicted of the charge in a Newmarket court and ordered to pay a fine of $1,200 plus a $300 victim fine surcharge.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
