Court fines South Essex Fabricating Inc. for hiring workers without certification

(June 2, 2015) Mantan Electric Corporation has been charged by an Ontario Court for employing an uncertified electrician – construction and maintenance, a violation under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, Section 4.

On June 2, 2015, Mantan Electric Corporation pled guilty to the charge and received a suspended sentence.

The offence took place at on Dec. 15, 2015 at a renovation site located at 160 Mountain Ash Rd. in Brampton.

In Ontario there are 22 trades designated as compulsory, which means an individual must have the necessary training and qualifications before he or she can do the work. The full list of compulsory trades can be found on the College’s website.
