Defendant: Balwinder Sappal, 52, of Etobicoke
Charge: Part I Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification.
Summary: On Dec. 15, 2014, Ontario College of Trades enforcement officers conducted an inspection at a renovation site located in Brampton. Sappal was confirmed to be performing work of an electrician- construction and maintenance (309A) while not having a Certificate of Qualification or being a member of the College.
On June 2, 2015, Sappal pleaded guilty to the charge under sec. 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.
