August 1, 2017 – 1680817 o/a Action Trailer Sales Inc.

Charges: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 4 – employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification (two counts).

Summary: On April 10, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at Action Trailer Sales Inc. located at 2332 Drew Road, Mississauga ON. The inspectors determined that two individuals employed by 1680817 o/a Action Trailer Sales Inc. were working on trailers while they did not hold Certificates of Qualification or Statements of Membership in the compulsory trade of truck and coach technician (310T) that were not suspended, and while they were not apprentices in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On August 1, 2017 1680817 o/a Action Trailer Sales Inc. was convicted of one section 4 charge in a Mississauga court and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 plus a $125 victim fine surcharge.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
