Proposed Board Regulation on Trade Classification Review Referral Process
The consultation on the proposed Board of Governors Regulation on the Trade Classification Review Referral Process is now closed.
This consultation sought feedback on a proposed Board of Governors regulation that would define the Ontario College of Trades’ (College) referral process for trades seeking classification reviews from the Ontario government’s new Classification Roster. The responsibility for conducting classification reviews was transferred from the College to the Ontario government as part of the December 8, 2016 amendments to the College’s legislation stemming from the Dean Report.
A 45-day public consultation was held through Ontario’s Regulatory Registry and the College’s website. The consultation closed on July 30, 2017. Stakeholder feedback was considered in the drafting of the final regulation.
The final regulation, O. Reg. 312/18 – REFERRAL OF A TRADE TO THE CLASSIFICATION ROSTER, came into effect on July 1, 2018 and is publicly available on the Ontario government’s e-Laws website.
While the College is responsible for determining the trade classification review referral process, the Ontario government is responsible for the reviews themselves.
