September 22, 2017 – Ontario Corp. 2141417 o/a Tri-Vent Plumbing

Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On August 24, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at an Etobicoke residence. The inspectors determined that one individual employed by Ontario Corp. 2141417 o/a Tri-Vent Plumbing was installing domestic water copper pipes in the residence while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of plumber (306A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On September 22, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Ontario Corp. 2141417 o/a Tri-Vent Plumbing of Toronto, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. Ontario Corp. 2141417 o/a Tri-Vent Plumbing had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
