October 31, 2017 – Jovo SEKEROVIC

Contravention: Individual engaging in the practice of a compulsory trade without proper qualifications, contrary to section 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On August 30, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a residential construction project located at 130 Columbia Street West, Waterloo ON. The inspectors determined that Jovo Sekerovic was installing electrical wiring in the kitchen of the residence, while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of electrician – construction and maintenance (309A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On October 31, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Jovo Sekerovic of Kitchener, setting out an administrative penalty of $250. Mr. Sekerovic had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to him in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
