Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).
Summary: On August 23, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a business establishment operating as Studio 168, located at 9-2580 Shepard Avenue, Mississauga ON. The inspectors determined that one individual employed by Studio 168 was performing a perm service for remuneration while she did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of hairstylist (332A) that is not suspended, and while she was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.
Notice of Contravention: On October 23, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to business o/a Studio 168 of Mississauga, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. Studio 168 had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.
