November 7, 2017 – Rupert T. REID

Contravention: Individual engaging in the practice of a compulsory trade without proper qualifications, contrary to section 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On August 24, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a new residential construction site located in West Alliston, ON. The inspectors determined that Rupert T. Reid was installing an electrical box and wiring for an appliance while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of electrician – domestic and rural (309C) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On November 7, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Rupert T. Reid of Brampton, setting out an administrative penalty of $250. Mr. Reid had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to him in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
