Contravention: Individual engaging in the practice of a compulsory trade without proper qualifications, contrary to section 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On November 2, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a condominium building located at 58 Marine Parade Drive, Etobicoke, ON. The inspectors determined that Muhammad Moeen was repairing and installing water valves on the PH level while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of plumber (306A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On November 24, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Muhammad Moeen of Mississauga, setting out an administrative penalty of $250. Mr. Moeen had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to him in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
