November 2, 2017 – Twisted Metal Garage & Paint Shop Inc.

Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

 Summary: On August 11, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at Twisted Metal Garage & Paint Shop Inc., located at 10865 Hwy 7, Carleton Place, ON. The inspectors determined that two individuals employed by Twisted Metal Garage & Paint Shop were observed working on a motor vehicle frame straightening machine while they did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of auto body and collision damage repairer (310B) that is not suspended, and while they were not apprentices in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

 Notice of Contravention: On November 2, 2017, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Twisted Metal Garage & Paint Shop of Carleton Place, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. Twisted Metal Garage & Paint Shop had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
