Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).
Summary: On May 3, 2018, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a new residential construction site, located in Carleton Place, ON. The inspectors determined that an individual employed or engaged by 1351380 Ontario Inc. o/a Central Plumbing Services laid out, assembled and installed a bathtub in a building while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of plumber (306A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.
Notice of Contravention: On June 28, 2018, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to 1351380 Ontario Inc. o/a Central Plumbing Services of Ottawa, ON, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. The corporation had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.
