Contravention: Individual engaging in the practice of a compulsory trade without proper qualifications, contrary to section 2 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On April 11, 2018, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at 5764 Highway 138, Cornwall, ON. The inspectors determined that John Young replaced brakes on a Cadillac while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of automotive service technician (310S) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On June 27, 2018, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to John Young of Cornwall, ON, setting out an administrative penalty of $250. Mr. Young had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to him in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.
