January 2, 2018 – 427463 Ontario Inc. o/a Ragno Electric Ltd.

Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On August 25, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted a follow-up inspection at a residential construction site located at Ballygarven Homes Upper Canada Meadows Lot 60, Listowel, ON. The inspectors determined that an individual employed or engaged by 427463 Ontario Inc. o/a Ragno Electric Ltd. performed the following: laying out, assembling, installing and connecting of electrical fixtures and wiring, installing panel boards and switch boxes, preparing conductors for splicing of electrical connections and securing conductor connections while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of electrician – construction and maintenance (309A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

Notice of Contravention: On January 2, 2018, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to 427463 Ontario Inc. o/a Ragno Electric Ltd. of Brampton ON, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. 427463 Ontario Inc. o/a Ragno Electric Ltd. had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.
