February 26, 2018 – 1504173 Ontario Ltd. o/a Family Auto Garage

Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On December 20, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at 1504173 Ontario Ltd. o/a Family Auto Garage, located at 1201 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON. The inspectors determined that an individual employed or engaged by 1504173 Ontario Ltd. o/a Family Auto Garage performed welding in the rear passenger side wheel well of a motor vehicle while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of auto body and collision damage repairer (310B) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended. 

Notice of Contravention: On February 26, 2018, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to 1504173 Ontario Ltd. o/a Family Auto Garage of Ottawa ON, setting out an administrative penalty of $500. 1504173 Ontario Ltd. o/a Family Auto Garage had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.
