February 12, 2018 – Assured Brampton North Collision Inc.

Contravention: Employing or otherwise engaging individual to engage in compulsory trade without a Certificate of Qualification, contrary to section 4 of the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (OCTAA).

Summary: On November 15, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at Assured Brampton North Collision Inc., located at 110 Van Kirk Drive, Brampton, ON. The inspectors determined that two individuals employed or engaged by Assured Brampton North Collision Inc. straightened the unibody/frame and removed and installed RR quarter panel and related body and suspension components on two motor vehicles, straightened and performed repairs to rear filler panel and removed and installed a rear bumper and related components on another motor vehicle while they did not hold Certificates of Qualification or Statements of Membership in the compulsory trade of auto body and collision damage repairer (310B) that were not suspended, and while they were not apprentices in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended. 

Notice of Contravention: On February 12, 2018, a College inspector issued a Notice of Contravention to Assured Brampton North Collision Inc. of Brampton ON, setting out an administrative penalty of $1,000. Assured Brampton North Collision Inc. had no other OCTAA Notices of Contravention issued to it in the three years preceding the date of the current notice.

The Ontario College of Trades is winding down as the government takes action to modernize the skilled trades and apprenticeship system.
