College continues to accept and process Trade Equivalency Assessment (TEA) applications

On November 21, 2018, the Ontario Legislature passed Bill 47, Making Ontario Open for Business Act, 2018, which includes changes to Ontario’s apprenticeship and skilled trades system.

While the Ontario College of Trades (College) works with government to support an orderly transition of key functions, the College continues to issue skilled trades credentials (Certificates of Qualification and Statements of Membership), verify credentials at worksites across the province and support labour mobility through credential verification.

The Trade Equivalency Assessment (TEA) process provides those who have not completed an apprenticeship program in Ontario a fair and objective opportunity to provide evidence of competency in their trade and obtain Ontario certification.

For more information on the TEA process, including how to submit an application, please visit our website at https://www.collegeoftrades.ca/trade-assessment.
