Notice of Disclosure of Personal Information
The Ontario College of Trades is a regulatory college for the apprenticeship and skilled trades system. The College will encourage more people to work in the trades and help the system better serve employers, skilled tradespeople, apprentices and consumers.
Sharing personal contact and workplace status information
In 2013, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities will transfer its responsibilities for certification in the skilled trades and for setting the standards for training apprentices to the Ontario College of Trades.
To prepare for this transfer, the government will share necessary information with the College, including:
- For journeypersons and journeyperson applicants: contact information, registration date, result(s) of exam(s) taken, certification status and the date(s) of certificate renewal(s)
- For apprentices: contact information, registration date, employer or sponsor, participation in any special apprenticeship program (such as the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) and workplace and certification status
- For all journeypersons, journeyperson applicants and apprentices: preferred language of correspondence, date of birth and gender
The government is sharing this information so the College can carry out its responsibilities according to the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, including enforcement and the creation of a public registry of skilled workers.
