The Board of Governors wishes to announce that David Tsubouchi will be retiring as Registrar & CEO of the Ontario College of Trades (College) upon the successful hiring of a new Registrar and CEO.
Over the last four years, under David’s leadership the College has grown immensely in scope and reputation. Most notably:
- Launched a Public Register that has become a “go-to” source for consumers and businesses who understand the need to “inquire before they hire” when it comes to engaging someone in a compulsory trade;
- Helped change the conversation and challenged the myths about the skilled trades;
- Generated excitement about the many opportunities in the skilled trades for young people, women, new Canadians, Aboriginal People; and
- Won the Canada’s Best Diversity Employers award in 2016 and 2017 for exceptional workplace diversity, inclusiveness programs and projects to advance diversity within the skilled trades industry.
While it may be challenging to replace David, the Board has complete confidence that the College will continue on a positive trajectory—thanks in part to the stellar senior management team and staff that David has helped put in place.
On behalf of the Board, the Executive Committee will begin the search for David’s successor immediately. Odgers Berndtson has been retained to conduct the recruitment of the new Registrar & CEO. It is the Executive Committee’s priority to find the best individual to lead, while still maintaining a stable and effective organization.
Please join us in wishing David all the best in his retirement— and thank him for his passion and dedication to the College during his tenure as Registrar & CEO.
