College seeking feedback on proposed trade classification review requests regulation

The Ontario College of Trades (College) is seeking feedback on a proposed regulation that would set out the process for the referral of trade classification review requests.

In Ontario, trades are classified as either compulsory or voluntary, and the practice of all compulsory trades is regulated by the College under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.

Trade classification reviews are the process through which the classification of a trade is initially assigned (in the case of new trades), or changed (in the case of existing trades).

Due to legislative amendments to the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, the College is responsible for establishing the process through which existing trades that want to have their current classification changed are referred by the College’s Board of Governors to the new Classification Roster.
