Enforcement & Discipline
The College has a duty to protect the public interest. To that end, we have established a complaints/incidents and enforcement process that maintains high industry standards while protecting the public.
The skilled tradespersons and apprentices of Ontario are professionals who are held to high standards of practice. The College has the duty to investigate any complaints of professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity that are made against the College’s members. The College strives to ensure fair and impartial treatment for its members while protecting the public.
Members will be subject to inspections and investigations as a part of the complaints/incidents and enforcement processes.
Members as well as non-members may be subject to penalties/tickets/charges for offences.
Members have the right to hear and respond to all complaints formally made against them throughout the complaints/incidents and enforcement process.
Three committees will consider complaints and evidence against the member and rule on their findings.
Members have a right under law to appeal decisions to the Divisional Court of Ontario.
